World Rowing Championships

The international rowing season culminates each year with the all-important World Rowing Championships, which determine the worlds best in each of 22 able bodied and 4 adaptive boat classes. This years World Rowing Championship will be held in Poznan, Poland from August 23 – 30, 2009.

The week long event is held on the most prestigious rowing courses around the world and attracts close to 1,000 rowers from all five continents. The crowd is always high and millions of viewers tune in to follow the racing on television. Each teams aim is get the FISA Team Trophy. The secret of winning this kind of sport is unity for they row as a team.

This is another much awaited and big event in rowing world.

Woods in the Deutsche Bank Championship


The Deutsche Bank Championship will be held September 1-7, 2009 at TPC Boston in Norton Mass featuring the top 100 players on the PGA Tour. An added spice to the spectators is the participation of Tiger Woods.
Woods has officially committed to play in the 2009 Championship, after missing the event for the first time last year while recovering from knee surgery. The Worlds No. 1 and 70-time PGA TOUR winner, who leads the FedExCup points standing entering the PGA TOUR Playoffs, won the Deutsche Bank Championship in 2006 and has three other top-10 finishes in five appearances. Knowing that Woods will be competing this coming championship, it will surely generate a lot of die-hard fans and golf lovers.
The 2009 Deutsche Bank Championship enters its third year as a PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup event and is the second of four stops in the playoffs.

UEFA WOMEN’S EURO 2009


UEFA WOMEN’S EURO 2009 will be staged in the Finnish cities of Helsinki, Lahti, Tampere and Turku. Actually, there will be two venues in the capital, with the Olympic Stadium staging Finland's group fixtures, including the opening game against Denmark on 23 August, and the final on 10 September 2009.
The Scandinavian rivals will also meet Ukraine and Netherlands in Group A, with all four teams playing on the opening day of the finals. Group B gets under way the following day, with Iceland tackling France and Germany squaring off against Norway in a repeat of the 2005 final. Group C then takes centre stage on 25 August as Sweden face Russia and England take on Italy. The hosts will play all of their group games at the Olympic Stadium while the capital's other venue, the Helsinki Football Stadium, opens its doors for the first time on August 26 for Ukraine versus Denmark. Group games continue until August 31, when the top two in each pool and the two best third-placed nations progress to the quarter-finals on September 3 and 4. The semi-finals follow on September 6 and 7, before the competition concludes three days later at the Olympic Stadium.

The Ultimate High at Cadwell Park

Cadwell Park will host the biggest round of the British Superbike Championship this coming August 29, 30 and 31, 2009. Cadwell Park is probably most famous for “the Mountain”, where bikes frequently get airborne. The challenging nature of Cadwell Park has caught out some of the best riders over the years.

Championship title contenders traditionally have never had the best of luck at Cadwell Park with Kiyonari, Reynolds and Rutter all having their standings suffer after crashes at the demanding Lincolnshire track. Only RutterWalker and Hill have stood on the top step there before, so it could be a maiden win celebrated on Bank Holiday Monday. It is going to be a dramatic struggle for dominance before the chequered flag!

2009 Carnegie Challenge Cup


The 2009 Carnegie Challenge Cup tournament will once again provide a great blend of thrill and amusement as teams from throughout Rugby League take part with the aim of making the final at Wembley.

According to Rugby League legend Alex Murphy this Carnegie Challenge Cup Final between Huddersfield Giants and Warrington Wolves will be another Wembley classic. Given the quality of the players involved and the significance of the event for both teams, it is certainly one of the greatest matches in Challenge Cup history.

The impressive culmination to what is the sport’s oldest and most momentous knock-out cup competition will take place at the national stadium on Saturday August 29, 2009. Safeway LPGA Classic @ Pumpkin Ridge


The 54-hole Safeway LPGA Classic presented by Coca-Cola featuring the Kraft Pro-Am will be held at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club this coming August 28-30, 2009. The Safeway Classic features 144 of the world’s top women golfers.

Watch out for Amy Eneroth, as she gained her eligibility to play in the Safeway Classic. Eneroth now has the opportunity to play with the best on the LPGA Tour in the 54-hole event, which features a purse of $1.7 million for professionals.

FIA World Touring Car Championship at the Motorsport Arena

This coming September 4 - 6, 2009 is another much awaited event for the fans of the internationally popular series. The FIA World Touring Car Championship will be held at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, Motopark Allee. Fans and supporters once again look forward to action-packed duels with Lackaustausch and well-known riders such as former Formula 1 driver Alex Zanardi and Joerg Mueller.

With the slogan “real cars – real racing”, spectators will surely enjoy the event for the first time in this season, three cars from the new type Lada Priora will go to the start. Chevrolets were also entering this season with their new Cruze models. While Russians still continue to enjoy an outsider status.

This event will be spectacular not only in the battle for the championship crown but also it is the first appearance of the new FIA Formula 2. And not only that, motor racing fans and visitors will definitely enjoy a top-class open-air concert highlight of the year in the Motorsport Arena.

BTTC heading at Silverstone……


As one of the most competitive domestic racing series, the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship is always a highlight of Silverstone’s calendar, with the eight round of the British Touring Car Championship taking place at the Home of British Motor Racing on August 29 – 30, 2009.
A crowd of drivers will be battling it out at Silverstone, including the 2007 and 2008 BTCC champion Fabrizio Giovanardi who will be fighting to defend his crown and claim a hat-trick of championship titles this season. His main rival on the National Circuit at Silverstone will be the current championship leader, Team RAC driver Colin Turkington. Former BTCC Champions Jason Plato and Matt Neal have also got their eyes on the 2009 Trophy and will be going all out to maintain maximum points at the famous Northamptonshire circuit

Belgium Grand Prix 2009 at spa


The Belgian Grand Prix is an automobile race, part of the Formula One World Championship. This years Belgian Grand Prix will take place at Spa-Francorchamps on August 30, 2009.

The track is an old-style circuit and it is a great challenge to the drivers. Its mix of long straights and challenging fast corners, coupled with its scenic setting, means that most drivers still rank it among their favorite tracks. The weather is still disreputably changeable for it can often be at the same time raining on one part of the track and dry on another part. With its high speed and sudden elevation change, Eau Rouge, maintains its reputation as one of Formula One racing’s most technically demanding corners.

AVIVA British Grand Prix returns to Gateshead



Experience the world-class athletics at Gateshead International Stadium this coming August 31, 2009. The world-class international athletics meeting returns to Gateshead with a star-studded Grand Prix of British and overseas world-class athletes.
32 World Championship medalists including a dozen champions are among the star-studded line up set to compete at the Aviva British Grand Prix. Competition will be vicious as rivalries from Berlin are quickly rekindled in the last of UKA’s summer season of world class events.
Niels de Vos, Chief Executive of UKA said: "Once again we have attracted a star-studded field to the Aviva British Grand Prix and can expect to see some truly world class sport. Millions of people around the world were thrilled by some of the fantastic performances from the recent World Championships; the Gateshead crowd will have a very special opportunity to see those same athletes up close on Monday."

AVIVA British Grand Prix



The Aviva British Graqnd Prix will take place at Gateshead International Stadium on August 31, 2009. It will be the final event of the UKA outdoor athletic season.

One of the headline of the event is the first ever appearance at the Gateshead International Stadium of the new darling of British athletics Jessica Enis. Joining her is the triple jumper Phillips Idowu, who declared himself “king of the world” after recording a personal best of 17.73m in the third round of the competition in Berlin. Also attending will be the one of the best sprint athletes in the world, Tyson Gay.

Also in attendance at the Aviva British Grand Prix will be six members of Britain’s world championship medal-winning men’s relay teams – 4 x 100m team members Tyrone Edgar, Marlon Devonish and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey will be celebrating their World Championship bronze medals with the Gateshead crowd, while 4 x 400m relay members Michael Bingham, Rob Tobin and Martyn Rooney will be showing off their World silver titles.

2009 FIM Speedway Grand Prix at Voljens


The 2009 Speedway Grand Prix season will be the 15th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and will decide the 64th Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme Speedway World Championship. It is the third series under the promotion of Benfield Sports International, an IMG company.

On August 30, 2009, the 2009 Speedway Grand Prix will be held at the Vojens Speedway Center in Denmark. There are 16 riders who will compete for the crown, four of which are Danish.

Spectators will surely enjoy not only the race but also the venue, for it has a fully equipped press area with wi-fi and press conference area with an access to telephone and fax, VIP hospitality area and food outlets.
